عاقَبتُ مَن أَهواهُ في

هَجري وَأَكثَرتُ المَلامَه

I punished the one I love for

forsaking me, and I heaped up reproaches.

فَأَجابَني أَقلَلتَ حُبَّ

فَأَجابَني أَقلَلتَ حُبَّ

كَ لي فَأَبدَيتَ الجَهامَه

كَ لي فَأَبدَيتَ الجَهامَه

Then he answered me: 'You have diminished your love

for me, and shown a scowl.'

فَأَجَبتُ إِنَّ كَرامَتي

فَأَجَبتُ إِنَّ كَرامَتي

فَرضٌ عَليكَ إِلى القِيامَه

فَرضٌ عَليكَ إِلى القِيامَه

Then I replied: 'Indeed, respect for me

is your duty until the Resurrection.'

فَأَجابَني مَن ما لَهُ

فَأَجابَني مَن ما لَهُ

حُبٌّ فَليسَ لَهُ كَرامَ

حُبٌّ فَليسَ لَهُ كَرامَ

Then he answered me: 'Whoever has no

love has no honor.'
