جَلَّexalted is الَّذيHe who أَنشاكَfashioned you مِنfrom قَرعَةٍa gourd
جَلَّ الَّذي أَنشاكَ مِن قَرعَةٍ
وَسائِرُand the rest of العالَمِthe world مِنfrom طينَهclay
وَسائِرُ العالَمِ مِن طينَه
Exalted is He who fashioned you from a gourd,
Great is He who made you from a clot
And the rest of the world from clay.

أَعجَبُthe strangest ماwhat شوهِدَwas seen فيin عَصرِناour age
أَعجَبُ ما شوهِدَ في عَصرِنا
عَوسَجَةٌa thornbush تَحمِلُbears يَقطينَهa pumpkin
عَوسَجَةٌ تَحمِلُ يَقطينَه
The strangest thing seen in our age:
Most wondrous thing seen in our age
A thornbush bearing a pumpkin.
A clumsy thing carrying a pumpkin
