أَنتَ سُؤلي وَإِن بَخِلتَ بِسُؤلي

وَرَجائي وَإِن قَطَعتَ رَجائي

You are my desire, even if you deny me what I desire,

You are my question, though you're miserly with my question,

And my hope, even if you cut off my hope,

And my hope, though you've cut off my hope,

وَحَياتي وَإِن تَعَمَّدتَ قَتلي

وَحَياتي وَإِن تَعَمَّدتَ قَتلي

وَنَعيمي وَإِن قَصَدتَ شَقائي

وَنَعيمي وَإِن قَصَدتَ شَقائي

And my life, even if you intend to kill me,

And my life, though you've deliberately sought my death,

And my bliss, even if you seek my misery.

And my bliss, though you've aimed for my misery,

مُنيَتي بُغيَتي حَبيبي نَصيبي

مُنيَتي بُغيَتي حَبيبي نَصيبي

مالِكُ الرِقِّ سَيَّدي مَولائي

مالِكُ الرِقِّ سَيَّدي مَولائي

My wish, my desire, my beloved, my allotted share,

My death wish, my beloved, my fate, my master,

Owner of my bondage, my master, my lord.

لَيتَ أَنّي قَضَيتُ نَحبي وَأَن تُص

لَيتَ أَنّي قَضَيتُ نَحبي وَأَن تُص

بِحَ بَعدي مُمَتَّعاً بِالبَقاءِ

بِحَ بَعدي مُمَتَّعاً بِالبَقاءِ

Would that I had met my death, and that you might

If only I had fulfilled my fate of demise, so you could

be blessed after me with continued life.
