أَمسَيتُ ذا ضُرٍّ وَفي يَدِكَ الشِفا

أَمسَيتُ ذا ضُرٍّ وَفي يَدِكَ الشِفا

لَمّا غَدَوتُ مِنَ الذُنوبِ عَلى شَفا

لَمّا غَدَوتُ مِنَ الذُنوبِ عَلى شَفا

I have become afflicted, while healing lies in your hand,

I have become one with illness, and in your hand is the cure

when my sins brought me to the brink.

When I rose from sins upon the brink

وَعَلِمتُ أَنَّ الصَفحَ مِنكَ مُؤَمَّلٌ

وَعَلِمتُ أَنَّ الصَفحَ مِنكَ مُؤَمَّلٌ

وَالعَفوَ مَرجُوٌّ لَدَيكَ لِمَن هَفا

وَالعَفوَ مَرجُوٌّ لَدَيكَ لِمَن هَفا

And I knew that pardon from you was hoped for,

And I knew that forgiveness from You is hoped for

and forgiveness sought from you for whoever has stumbled.

And pardon is awaited from You for those who erred

فَجَعَلتُ عُذري الاِعتِرافَ بِزَلَّتي

فَجَعَلتُ عُذري الاِعتِرافَ بِزَلَّتي

إِذ بِها في طَيِّ عِلمِكَ مَن خَفا

إِذ بِها في طَيِّ عِلمِكَ مَن خَفا

So I made acknowledgment of my lapse my excuse,

So I made my excuse admitting my mistake

since, through it, whoever lay hidden lies within the folds of your knowledge.

Since through it in Your encompassing knowledge is one concealed

فَإِذا اِنتَقَمتَ فَإِنَّ ذَنبي موجِبٌ

فَإِذا اِنتَقَمتَ فَإِنَّ ذَنبي موجِبٌ

وَلَئِن عَفَوتَ فَإِنَّ مِثلِكَ مَن عَفا

وَلَئِن عَفَوتَ فَإِنَّ مِثلِكَ مَن عَفا

So if you take vengeance, my sin indeed warrants it;

So if You take vengeance, then my sin calls for it

and if you pardon, surely it is one like you who pardons.

And if You pardon, then one like You has pardoned
