إِلَيكَfor you اِشتِياقيmy longing لاnot يُحَدُّis defined or bounded لِأَنَّهُbecause it
إِلَيكَ اِشتِياقي لا يُحَدُّ لِأَنَّهُ
إِذاif حُدَّis defined لاnot يُلفىis found لِضابِطِهِfor its defining rule أَصلُa basis
إِذا حُدَّ لا يُلفى لِضابِطِهِ أَصلُ
My longing for you cannot be defined, because
My longing for you has no limit
if defined, no basis is found for its defining rule.
For if it's limited, its essence won't be found
وَكَيفَand how يُحَدُّis defined الشَوقُlonging عِنديwithin me بِضابِطٍby a defining rule
وَكَيفَ يُحَدُّ الشَوقُ عِندي بِضابِطٍ
وَليسَand there is not لَهُfor it جِنسٌa genus قَريبٌproximate وَلاnor فَصلُa differentia
وَليسَ لَهُ جِنسٌ قَريبٌ وَلا فَصلُ
And how can the longing within me be defined by a rule,
How can longing be limited
when it has neither a proximate genus nor a differentia?
When it has no genus, nor ties that bind
