مَولايَmy lord إِنّيindeed I عَلَيكَupon you مُتَّكِلُreliant
وَأَنتَand you عَمّاaway from what أَرومُI seek مُشتَغِلُpreoccupied
My lord, I place my trust in you,
My Master, I rely on You alone,
Yet you are preoccupied with something other than what I seek.
While You are occupied with what I intend.
وَكَيفَand how يُخطيerrs رَأييmy judgment وَليand I have مَلِكٌa king
يُضرَبُis cited فيconcerning حُسنِthe excellence of رَأيِهِhis judgment المَثَلُthe example
And how can my judgment err, when I have a king
How can my opinion go astray when I have a King
Whose sound judgment is held up as an example?
Whose wisdom is proverbial?
فَقُمso rise بِنَصريto my aid فَقَدfor indeed تَقاعَدَhas held back بيme

So rise to my aid, for I have been held back
So aid me, for my days have let me down.
By my fortune, and without you my options have narrowed.
Without You, stratagems fail.
وَلاand do not تَكِلentrust حاجَتيmy need إِلىto رَجُلٍa man
وَمِنكَand of you فيin كُلِّevery شَعرَةٍhair رَجُلُa man
And do not entrust my need to a man,
Do not entrust my need to any man;
When in every hair of yours there is a man.
In each hair of mine there is a man through You.
