وَماand not بِعتُكُمI sold to you روحيmy soul بِأَيسَرِfor the slightest وَصلِكُمcloseness to you
وَما بِعتُكُم روحي بِأَيسَرِ وَصلِكُم
وَبيwhile I have مِنany غِنىًfreedom from need عَنfrom قَبضِreceiving ماwhat لِيَbelongs to me مِنof حَقِّrightful due
وَبي مِن غِنىً عَن قَبضِ ما لِيَ مِن حَقِّ
And I did not sell you my soul for the slightest closeness to you
I did not sell you my soul for your easy union
without needing to receive what is rightfully mine.
And I have no need of the grasp of my right from you
وَلَوand if أَنَّthat ليI had صَبراًpatience عَلىin bearing مُرِّthe bitterness of هَجرِكُمyour abandonment
وَلَو أَنَّ لي صَبراً عَلى مُرِّ هَجرِكُم
صَبَرتُI would have endured وَماand not أَمسَيتُI would have ended up مِنof رِبقَةِthe halter of الرِقِّslavery
صَبَرتُ وَما أَمسَيتُ مِن رِبقَةِ الرِقِّ
And had I patience to bear your bitter abandonment,
If I had patience for the bitterness of your abandonment
I would have endured, and not found myself in slavery's halter.
I would have patience, and would not become a slave to slavery
