إنَّindeed اللَّجوجَthe obstinate man لهfor him فيin الزَّجرِrebuke إغراءُencouragement
إنَّ اللَّجوجَ له في الزَّجرِ إغراءُ
Do not spur an obstinate man on when you rebuke him.
Do not tempt the stubborn one when you rebuke him
Indeed, rebuke is an encouragement to the obstinate.
For the stubborn one finds provocation in rebuke
وأغضِand turn a blind eye فيin حُسنِthe graciousness of عَفوٍforgiveness عنto نَوَادرهhis oddities

فالحُرُّ فيه عن الآفات إغضَاءُ
And turn a blind eye to his oddities with gracious forgiveness.
And overlook gracefully his occasional slips
For a noble man has it in him to overlook faults.
For the noble one overlooks faults by looking away
