وللمَوتِand for death تَغذُوnourish الوالِداتُthe mothers سِخَالَهاtheir young (lambs or kids)
كماjust as لِخَرَابِfor the ruin of الدُّورthe houses تُبنَىare built المَسَاكِنُthe dwellings
And for death mothers nourish their lambs,
Mothers feed Death their babies
Just as dwellings are built for houses to fall to ruin.
As homes are built upon ruins.
عَجِبتُI marvel مِنَat الدُّنياthe world وذَمِّيand my condemning نَعِيمَهاits pleasures
وحُبِّيand my love لَهَاfor it فيin مُضمَرِthe innermost recess of القَلبِthe heart باطِنُhidden
I marvel at the world and at my condemning its pleasures,
I'm amazed by this world though I blame its luxuries,
While my love for it lies hidden in the heart’s innermost recess.
My love for it lies hidden in my heart.
وقَوليand my saying أَعِذنيprotect me ربِّmy Lord منfrom كُلِّevery فِتنَةٍtemptation

And at my saying, “Protect me, my Lord, from every temptation,”
I say "God, save me from all temptations!"
Yet I am enamored of whatever in it is alluring.
Yet I'm laden with that which tempts me most.
