    واللَّهُ يا هذا لِرِزقِكَ ضامنُ

    All that will come to be has been decreed beforehand;

And God, O you, guarantees your sustenance.

You worry about what is taken care of for you, and neglect that which

should concern you, as though you were safe from calamities.

And do you not see the world and the death of its people?

So work for the day of parting from it, O doomed one.

    And know—heed this!—that, concerning what

you have come to amass, you are a keeper for others.

O builder of the world, do you build a dwelling

where no inhabitant has remained in death's presence?

Death is something you know to be

certain, yet you are careless about remembering it.

Indeed, death does not consult the one it visits

about his life at any time, nor does it ask permission.
