تُحدِّثُit tells الناسthe people منfrom آياتهاits signs عِبَرَاlessons
تُحدِّثُ الناس من آياتها عِبَرَا
So that is his head, speaking in the air,
His forehead in the air speaks
telling people lessons drawn from its signs.

مكتوبةinscribed الوجهthe face بالهنديّby the Indian sword يقرؤهhe reads it
مكتوبة الوجه بالهنديّ يقرؤه
منone who ليسdoes not يقرأread مكتوباwritten text ولاnor سطراa line
من ليس يقرأ مكتوبا ولا سطرا
Its face, inscribed by the Indian sword, is read
Written on the face in henna one reads
by one who reads neither written text nor a line.
