    O Abu Hasan, Rabiʿa of Sulaym,

    a spearhead that graced the tops of spears.

    And I seek refuge with you from misfortunes

    that whittled my pillars as arrow shafts are whittled.

    فليس حِمَى ابن عمك بالمُباح

    So turn to your cousin and rescue him;

    for your cousin's protected ground is not free for the taking.

    For the neighbor in your keeping lies between the two flanks

    of an eagle of dark clouds, folding her wing.
