O Ahmad son of Saʿid, the mountain that
O Ahmed son of Sa'eed, you are the banner
has risen high, so that time's misfortunes slide off him.
To which the youth have resorted, though mean

Punishment has taken its toll on Ibn Maslama, whom
He took the punishment from Ibn Muslima

Though the judge had ruled it, and the injustice was grave

Only a flicker of life remains; if rescued in time,
Nothing remains but recklessness, if you can save him
it will survive; but if you abandon him, he will be slain.
He will be delivered, if you surrender him he's slain

In your hands, after God, lies the loosening of his bonds,
In your hands, after God, is to undo his shackles
and on you we rely to rescue him.
And on you is his rescue and dependence

So pity the moans of a father of daughters: none has been found
So have mercy on the moaning of the father of girls
to equal their tears upon their cheeks.
Whose tears on their cheeks have no equal

So place him in the eyes of your hands, for they are
Make him in your eyes as if in your hands, he's
a wall sheltering the seeker of refuge, and a thicket.
A fence protecting the suppliant, though flawed

His only fault is Time itself, for it
His only crime is the time, which
is slack-handed and soon tires of those it loves.
Has weakened the hands of those who love the delinquent
