وَمُطارِحٍand a musician مِمّاfrom what تَجُسُّfeel بَنانُهُhis fingertips
وَمُطارِحٍ مِمّا تَجُسُّ بَنانُهُ
لَحناًa melody أَفاضَhe poured عَلَيهِover it ماءَwater وَقارِهِhis dignity
لَحناً أَفاضَ عَلَيهِ ماءَ وَقارِهِ
And a musician draws from what his fingertips touch
a melody over which he poured the water of his dignity.
يَثنيholds back الحَمامَthe dove فَلاso it does not يَرُوحُreturn لِوَكرِهِto its nest
يَثني الحَمامَ فَلا يَرُوحُ لِوَكرِهِ
طَرَباًin rapture وَرِزقُwhile the food بَنيهِits young فيin مِنقارِهِits beak
طَرَباً وَرِزقُ بَنيهِ في مِنقارِهِ
It holds the dove back, so it does not return to its nest,
rapt with delight, though its young's food is in its beak.
