No place is like your place, Ibn Rizq:

A garden shimmers, and a stream surges.

And it seems a page from your fingertips,

For beauty sprouts in its moist soil and works wonders.

And an evening, clad in its cloak of pallor,

While the sky was veiled in thin cloud,

Brought us, in fellowship, to the utmost bounds of joy,

While night looked eagerly toward our parting.

So moisten with it the evening draught’s last breath, for there has come

Between us and the sun’s disk what was expected.

    فَوَدِدتُ يا مُوسى لَوَ اَنَّكَ يُوشَعُ

    It sank, and your right hand could not bring it back;

So I wished, O Musa, that you were Joshua.
