    O my two companions in separation—and you are indeed

    The two brothers of my love—how fine these brothers are!

    إِنَّ القُلوبَ مَواطِنُ الأَوطانِ

    Wade through my breast toward the distant homeland;

    Indeed, hearts are the dwelling places of homelands.

    And you stayed with me, both freed from exile,

    And you cast off the bonds of the yearning captive.

    Are you two bidding farewell before I have entrusted a kiss

    To your sandals, to be offered to the bridge of Maʿān?
