فَكَمْ جَرَى مِنْ سانِحٍ يَسْنَحُ

فَكَمْ جَرَى مِنْ سانِحٍ يَسْنَحُ

وَبارِحاتٍ لَمْ تَحَرْ تَبْرَحُ

وَبارِحاتٍ لَمْ تَحَرْ تَبْرَحُ

So many a rightward-passer has run by, crossing from left to right,

So much has flowed from each fleeting moment,

And leftward-passers, unwavering, cross from right to left,

And nights that do not cease their roaming.

بِطَيْرِ تَخْبِيبٍ وَلا تَبْرَحُ

بِطَيْرِ تَخْبِيبٍ وَلا تَبْرَحُ

With deceptive bird-omens, and do not depart.

With birds that trill, but never depart.
