رَباعfour-year-old أَقَبُّlean البَطْنِthe belly جَأْبٌsturdy wild ass مُطَرَّدٌwell-proportioned
رَباع أَقَبُّ البَطْنِ جَأْبٌ مُطَرَّدٌ
بِلَحْيَيْهِwith his two jaws صَكُّbattering المُغْزياتِthe resistant she-asses الرَواكِلِthe kicking females
بِلَحْيَيْهِ صَكُّ المُغْزياتِ الرَواكِلِ
A four-year-old wild ass, lean-bellied, sturdy and well-proportioned;
A sturdy belly and a skinny frame
with his two jaws he batters the resistant, kicking she-asses.
His flowing beard strikes down the licentious and vain
فَماso … not تَرَكَاthe two left مِنْany عُوذَةٍprotective charm يَعْرِفَانِهاthey both know it
فَما تَرَكَا مِنْ عُوذَةٍ يَعْرِفَانِها
وَلاnor رُقَيْةٍhealing incantation إِلَّاexcept بِهاwith it رَقَيَانِيthey both recited charms over me
وَلا رُقَيْةٍ إِلَّا بِها رَقَيَانِي
So the two left no protective charm they knew,
No talisman exists they do not know
nor any healing incantation, without reciting it over me.
No invocation but through it I'm blessed and grow
