And he thrusts back the arrogant one with a mighty champion,

with a crushing fighter whose limbs are massive,

hard at the skull’s seams, fierce and mightily built,

whose nostril-rims the bridle’s nose-peg has not bloodied,

and he is no saddle-galled, hulking beast.

And one who draws his sides together, puffed up with pride—

utter blindness has whitened his two eyes,

from the groans of raging envy.

    يَرْضَونَ بِالتَعْبِيدِ وَالتَأَمِّي

    People are nothing but brittle thumam grass;

they accept enslavement and a bondwoman’s servitude

to us, whenever the name-giver names the Khindif lineage.

We leave the Two-Horned One like a hornless beast,

    shattered against our unyielding rock,

against a massive rock, firm in its foundations.

We break the molar of the huge, hulking brute.

And if we surge like the billows of the sea,

our surge chokes the spout of the broad, massive bucket.

From us comes the protector of people at the gathering place,

at the sacred landmark of the spacious pilgrim station.

And kingship is among us, and the unlettered Imam

is ours; and within us is the marrow of every ancient bone.
