The young man strives toward his goal,

And finds death in his wake.

ثم يطويه الزمان ولم

ثم يطويه الزمان ولم

يبلغ المرجوّ من وطَره

يبلغ المرجوّ من وطَره

Then time folds him away, though he has not

Attained the hoped-for fulfillment of his desire.
