When the darkness nears its end, come to me,

O morning star, O solace of the poor.

I spend the nights, my eye keeping sleepless watch on you,

As though I had come into being in your abode.

These gardens—ask their nightingales about me:

How often, in love, they echoed my lament and my singing!

O morning star, while the world is beset by calamities,

Indeed, I have called on you in dire distress; so console me,

Until, when a sun rises for one seeking a livelihood,

Go, and leave me on the road to death.
