وَآلُand the house of مُزَيقِياءَMuzayqiya وَقَدand already تَداعَتsummoned one another
وَآلُ مُزَيقِياءَ وَقَد تَداعَت
حَلائِبُهُمtheir allied bands لَناagainst us حَتّىuntil قَريناwe offered hospitality
حَلائِبُهُم لَنا حَتّى قَرينا
And as for the house of Muzayqiya, when there had rallied
The kin of Muzayqi'a collapsed
Their allied bands against us, until we offered them hospitality,
Their settlements surrendered to us until we lived nearby
صَبَرناwe stood firm بِالسُيوفِwith swords لَهُمagainst them وَكانَتand were
صَبَرنا بِالسُيوفِ لَهُم وَكانَت
مَعاقِلُناour strongholds بِهِنَّin them إِذاwhenever عَصيناwe rebelled
مَعاقِلُنا بِهِنَّ إِذا عَصينا
We stood firm against them with swords, and
We endured the swords against them and our
Our strongholds lay in those swords whenever we rose in defiance.
Fortresses protected us whenever we rebelled
وَغادَرناand we left قَريعَهُمُtheir champion صَريعاlying slain
وَغادَرنا قَريعَهُمُ صَريعا
عَوائِدُهُhis visitors سباعbeasts of prey يَعتَفيناcome seeking sustenance
عَوائِدُهُ سباع يَعتَفينا
And we left their champion lying slain,
We left their warriors as corpses
His visitors beasts of prey that come seeking sustenance.
Their remains for beasts to trample
