From the al-Ghannam family, a woman of chastity,
From a flock of sheep, well kept,
Death's arrow carried her off, still tender.
Taken by the moist arrow of death.
لمdid not تتخذadopt غيرother than الفضائلthe virtues مذهباa path
لم تتخذ غير الفضائل مذهبا
وسوىand other than الشريعةdivine law رايةa banner وحبيبهand a beloved
وسوى الشريعة راية وحبيبه
She adopted no path but the virtues,
She followed no path but virtue,
Nor any banner or beloved but divine law.
No banner but the Law, no beloved but it.
كانتshe was عزيزةdear قومهاher people لكنهاbut she
كانت عزيزة قومها لكنها
باتتshe became لأمرto the decree of اللهGod خيرthe best محييهone who greets
باتت لأمر الله خير محييه
She was dear to her people, but she
She was precious to her people, yet now
Became the best to greet God's decree.
By God's decree a better life awaits.
فيin جنةthe garden الغفرانforgiveness قدindeed ارختهاI dated her passing
في جنة الغفران قد ارختها
نالتshe attained نصيبthe share الصالحاتrighteous women نسيبهNasiba
نالت نصيب الصالحات نسيبه
In the garden of forgiveness, I have dated her passing:
In the garden of forgiveness she rests,
Nasiba attained the share of righteous women.
Claiming the fate of the righteous, her peers.
