أَحِنُّI long إِلىfor نَجدٍNajd وَإِنّيand indeed I لَآيِسٌsurely without hope
أَحِنُّ إِلى نَجدٍ وَإِنّي لَآيِسٌ
طَوالَthroughout اللَياليthe nights مِنof قُفولٍreturning إِلىto نَجدِNajd
طَوالَ اللَيالي مِن قُفولٍ إِلى نَجدِ
I long for Najd, though I am truly without hope,
I yearn for Najd though I have lost all hope
Throughout the nights, of returning to Najd.
Of return at night to Najd for long nights through.
وَإِنand if يَكُthere be لاno لَيلىLayla وَلاand no نَجدُNajd فَاِعتَرِفthen acknowledge
وَإِن يَكُ لا لَيلى وَلا نَجدُ فَاِعتَرِف
بِهَجرٍto a separation إِلىuntil يَومِthe day القِيامَةِthe Resurrection وَالوَعدِand the promise
بِهَجرٍ إِلى يَومِ القِيامَةِ وَالوَعدِ
And if there is neither Layla nor Najd, then acknowledge
If there's no Layla or Najd, then do confess
A separation until the Day of Resurrection and the Promise.
To estrangement till Resurrection Day comes true.
