وَلَم أَرَ شَيئاً بَعدَ لَيلى أَلَذُّهُ

وَلا مَشرَباً أُروى بِهِ فَأَعيجُ

And I have seen naught sweeter than Layla's charms

Nor any drink to slake my thirst when parched.

كَوَسطَي لَيالي الشَهرِ لا مُقسَئِنَّةً

وَلا وَثَبى عَجلى القِيامِ خَروجُ

She is like the full moon lighting up the night

Rising hastily, not tarrying overlong.
