طَرَقَتكَshe visited you by night بَينَamong مُسَبِّحٍone glorifying God وَمُكَبِّرٍand one proclaiming God’s greatness
طَرَقَتكَ بَينَ مُسَبِّحٍ وَمُكَبِّرٍ
بِحَطيمِat the Hatim of مَكَّةَMecca حَيثُwhere كانَwas الأَبطَحُal-Abtah
بِحَطيمِ مَكَّةَ حَيثُ كانَ الأَبطَحُ
She visited you by night among those glorifying God and proclaiming His greatness,
At Mecca’s Hatim, where al-Abtah lay.
فَحَسِبتَso you thought مَكَّةَMecca وَالمَشاعِرَand the sacred sites كُلَّهاall of them
فَحَسِبتَ مَكَّةَ وَالمَشاعِرَ كُلَّها
وَجِبالَهاand its mountains باتَتspent the night بِمِسكٍwith musk تَنفَحُwafting fragrance
وَجِبالَها باتَت بِمِسكٍ تَنفَحُ
So you thought that Mecca and all the sacred sites
And its mountains had spent the night breathing musk.
