    طَوَت حَزَناً وَاِرفَضَّ مِنها دُموعُها

    And indeed, if you conveyed to her my words, 'Be well,'

    She would conceal her sorrow, and her tears would stream forth;

    And the longing she hides within her breast would be revealed,

    When news from me stirs her and alarms her.

    And she would overflow, able only to shed a flood of tears,

    And her contentment with the life remaining would dwindle.

    When the sun of day rises, send greetings,

    For the sign of my greeting to you is its rising:

    With ten greetings when the sun shines,

    And ten when it turns yellow and its setting is at hand.
