وَليand I have كَبِدٌa liver مَقروحَةٌulcerated مَنwho يَبيعُنيwill sell me
بِهاin exchange for it كَبِداًa liver لَيسَتis not بِذاتِbearing قُروحِsores
And I have an ulcerated liver—who will sell me
My wounded liver, who would buy
in exchange for it a liver free of sores?
A liver not itself made sore by woe?
أَبيعُI offer for sale وَيَأبىand refuse الناسُthe people لاnot يَشتَرونَهاthey buy it
وَمَنand who يَشتَريbuys ذاone with عِلَّةٍan ailment بِصَحيحِin exchange for a healthy one
I offer it for sale, but people refuse; they will not buy it.
I offer it for sale but no one buys.
And who would buy an ailing one in exchange for a healthy one?
Who'd buy the sick to make the healthy go?
أَإِنُّI groan مِنَbecause of الشَوقِthe longing الَّذيthat فيin جَوانِبيmy sides
أَنينَthe groaning of غَصيصٍone choking بِالشَرابِon drink جَريحِwounded
I groan from the longing that lies within my sides,
Is it because the longing in my sides
with the groan of a wounded man choking on drink.
Sounds like a wounded animal brought low?
