وَلا بُغيَةً إِلّا عَلَيكِ طَريقُها
Ah, if only I sought nothing throughout my life,
If only I did not seek from fate desires
Nor any desire, unless its path led past you.
Nor any hopes unless their path leads to you
فَياso, oh حَبَذاhow lovely مِنof مَنظَرٍa sight لَوif only تَنالَهُyou attain it

عَذابُ الثَنايا أُمُّ عَمروٍ وَريقُها
So, what a lovely sight, if only you could attain it—
So wonderful the sight if I could attain it
Sweet-toothed Umm Amr, and her saliva.
The agony of ardent love, mother of Amr, and its relief
