A beloved—time has carried his nearness far from me,

And made me solitary, without a beloved.

So I have the heart of one sorrowful and the mind of one distraught,

And the loneliness of one forsaken and the humiliation of a stranger.

Then, O turns of the days, is there any hope in you

Of bringing a beloved back, or warding off sorrows?
