بِذي الرَمثِ لَمّا أَن جَفاهُ أَقارِبُه
I hamstrung my she-camel at al-Mulawwih’s grave,
I hobbled my she-camel at the grave of Al-Mulawwah
at Dhu al-Ramth, when his relatives forsook him.
In Dhi Al-Ramth, when his kinfolk had forsaken him

So I told her to be hamstrung, for I
And I said to her: "Be crippled, for I

for every man must drink of death.
For all men are destined to drink the cup of death.

You were indeed generous with stallions, and a sword whose blows
