Who will carry my message to the tribes—to Mālik?

And the tribes have indeed done well at lamenting.

So we fought for God, and among the Persians was what we sought.

And we inquire at the dreaded frontier.

And you are obstinate if a calamity strikes

And grave afflictions descend upon us on the frontiers.

And do you remember us, when we and you alighted

At Kisrā’s dwellings, while affairs were in turmoil?

So we became your support at Ḥulwān, after

We all alighted, while the armies were alighting.

For we are the ones who triumphed at Ḥulwān, after

The slave women and wives wailed over Kisrā.
