Have Persia’s people not told of us that we

Barred them from their dwellings with keen swords?

And we are a people who school our horses

To face our foes with deaths that sever life.

And Rawz we killed, when his cheek trembled,

And every chief who tested us with mighty ordeals.

We left Hasid with no friendly soul to enter it,

And its lords had found relief through the non-Arabs.

And I surely hope that their hosts will meet

Tomorrow morning with one of those dreadful, severing calamities.

Hear this: you two, tell Asma that her husband

Has fulfilled his desire against Rawzabi of the non-Arabs,

The morning we attacked their hosts at Hasid

With an Indian blade that cleaves the small bones of skulls.

And Rawz was struck with death and grievously hurt

By the swords of Banu Amr, with one of the mighty blows.
