And I was present on the day of Nahawand and did not flinch.
On the day of Nahawand I was present but did not waver
And indeed all the tribes acquitted themselves well that day.
And all the tribes acted virtuously that day

That evening Fayruzan fled, seeking refuge
In the evening the Persian turned away defeated
To an inaccessible mountain, for fear of the cleaving swords.
Towards a barren mountain, fearing reprisals

Then one of us, a man of battle and bounty, overtook him
My brother, energetic and intrepid, caught up with him
And felled him amid the crush of spearheads.
And dispatched him when fates collided

And their remains lie in [the valley of] Khurd,
Their disjointed limbs lay in every ravine
Where pale, loping wolves keep returning to them.
Food for the vicious and famished wolves
