When I find fault with her, I liken her to the rising full moon,
When I find fault with her, I liken her to the rising full moon,
and her likeness to the full moon is fault enough for you.
And let it suffice you as a fault in her, her likeness to the full moon.

Lubna has indeed been favored above all people, just as
Lubna was certainly preferred over people, just as
the Night of Decree has been favored above a thousand months.
The Night of Power is preferred over a thousand months.

When she walks a handspan across the ground, she trembles
When she walks a span of the earth, it quakes
from breathlessness, so that she goes no farther than a handspan.
From awe, though she walks no more than a span.

She has a rump that quivers when she walks,
She has shoulders that quiver as she walks,
and a back like a branch of the bān tree, slender at the waist.
And a slender waist wrapped tightly like a twig.
