لَقَدindeed نادىcalled out الغُرابُthe crow بِبَينِof parting from لُبنىLubna
فَطارَso took flight القَلبُthe heart مِنfrom حَذَرِfear of الغُرابِthe crow
The crow has indeed proclaimed parting from Lubna,
The raven did call of the parting with Lubna
and my heart took flight for fear of the crow.
So the heart took flight, fearing the raven
وَقالَand it said غَداًtomorrow تَباعَدُwill grow distant دارُhome of لُبنىLubna
وَتَنأىand be far away بَعدَafter وُدٍّaffection وَاِقتِرابِand closeness
It said, “Tomorrow Lubna’s home will grow distant,
And said tomorrow Lubna's home grows distant
and be far away after affection and closeness.”
And retreats beyond love and closeness
فَقُلتُso I said تَعِستَmay you come to grief وَيحُكَwoe to you مِنas a غُرابٍcrow
وَكانَand may it be الدَهرَforever سَعيُكَyour striving فيin تَبابِruin
So I said, “May you come to grief—woe to you, crow!
So I said, woe to you, cursed raven
And may your striving be forever in ruin!
For striving to sow confusion
لَقَدindeed أولِعتَyou are obsessed لاnot لاقَيتَyou meet with خَيراًgood
بِتَفريقِwith separating المُحِبِّthe lover عَنِfrom الحُبابِthe loved ones
You are indeed obsessed—may you never meet with good—
You're bent on evil, you'll see no good
with separating the lover from those he loves.”
From parting the lover from the beloved
