وَيَومَand on the day مِنىًMina أَعرَضتِyou turned away عَنّيfrom me فَلَمso did not أَقُلI speak
وَيَومَ مِنىً أَعرَضتِ عَنّي فَلَم أَقُل
بِحاجَةِof a need نَفسِa soul عِندَin the presence of لُبنىLubna مَقالُهاits expression
بِحاجَةِ نَفسِ عِندَ لُبنى مَقالُها
And on the day at Mina you turned away from me, so I did not speak
The day you turned away from me, I did not say,
Of my soul’s need, to be expressed before Lubna.
Though my soul was in need, what it wished to say.
وَفيand in اليَأسِdespair لِلنَفسِfor the soul المَريضَةِailing راحَةٌrelief
وَفي اليَأسِ لِلنَفسِ المَريضَةِ راحَةٌ
إِذاwhen النَفسُthe soul رامَتsought خُطَّةًa goal لاnot تَنالُهاit attains it
إِذا النَفسُ رامَت خُطَّةً لا تَنالُها
And in despair there is relief for the ailing soul,
In despair there is comfort for the ailing soul -
When the soul seeks a goal it cannot attain.
When what it craves is beyond its reach or role.
