وَإِنّي لَأَهوى النَومَ في غَيرِ حينِهِ

وَإِنّي لَأَهوى النَومَ في غَيرِ حينِهِ

لَعَلَّ لِقاءً في المَنامِ يَكونُ

لَعَلَّ لِقاءً في المَنامِ يَكونُ

And indeed I love sleep outside its proper time,

And I yearn for sleep untimely

Perhaps a meeting will take place in a dream.

That perchance in a dream we might meet

تُحَدِّثُني الأَحلامُ إِنّي أَراكُمُ

تُحَدِّثُني الأَحلامُ إِنّي أَراكُمُ

فَيا لَيتَ أَحلامَ المَنامِ يَقينُ

فَيا لَيتَ أَحلامَ المَنامِ يَقينُ

Dreams tell me that I see you;

For dreams bring me your images

Oh, if only the dreams of sleep were certain truth!

Would that dreams were reality

شَهِدتُ بِأَنّي لَم أُحِل عَن مَوَدَّةٍ

شَهِدتُ بِأَنّي لَم أُحِل عَن مَوَدَّةٍ

وَإِنّي بِكُم لَو تَعلَمينَ ضَنينُ

وَإِنّي بِكُم لَو تَعلَمينَ ضَنينُ

I have borne witness that I have not turned away from affection,

I confess I have never wavered in affection

And indeed I am loath to part with you, if only you knew.

Though you know not how I pine

وَإِنَّ فُؤادي لا يَلينُ إِلى هَوى

وَإِنَّ فُؤادي لا يَلينُ إِلى هَوى

سِواكِ وَإِن قالوا بَلى سَيَلينُ

سِواكِ وَإِن قالوا بَلى سَيَلينُ

And indeed my heart does not yield to love

And indeed my heart inclines to no other love

For anyone but you, even if they say, 'Yes, it will yield.'

No matter their claims that it will soften
