يَقولُsays لِيَto me الحَدّادُthe jailer وَهوَwhile he يَقودُنيleads me
يَقولُ لِيَ الحَدّادُ وَهوَ يَقودُني
إِلىto السِجنِthe prison لاdo not تَجزَعbe alarmed فَماfor there is no بِكَupon you مِنany باسِharm
إِلى السِجنِ لا تَجزَع فَما بِكَ مِن باسِ
The jailer says to me as he leads me
The blacksmith says to me as he leads me
To prison: “Do not be alarmed, for you face no harm.”
To prison, “Do not grieve, you’ve done no wrong,”
وَتَترُكُand you disregard عُذريmy defense وَهوَthough it is أَضحىclearer مِنَthan الشَمسِthe sun
وَتَترُكُ عُذري وَهوَ أَضحى مِنَ الشَمسِ
And you disregard my defense, though it is clearer than the sun.
Yet he ignores my plea though clear as day
