وَجانَبتَها يا لَيتَ أَن لَم تَجَنَّبِ
You have settled the matter with Qasima, so go.
You have made your decision about Qasimah, so go
You have shunned her—oh, if only you had not!
And avoid her, I wish you had not avoided
وَأَعقَبتَهاand you gave her in return هَجراًestrangement وَشَفَّكَand wore you down دونَهاapart from her
وَأَعقَبتَها هَجراً وَشَفَّكَ دونَها

مَناطِقُ رَهطٍ في قَسيمَةِ خُيَّبِ
You repaid her with estrangement; apart from her, you were worn down
And followed it with estrangement and your lips from her
by the talk of a band disappointed in Qasima.
Are loosed, the belts of a folk in wretched Khyber

يَدايَ إِلى جَوفِ الرِتاجِ المُضَبَّبِ
When they ask me to swear about Qasima, I turn
When they adjure me about Qasimah I incline
my two hands toward the recess of the iron-bound door,
My hands to the insides of the fully-lined quiver

swearing by the Lord of the she-camels dancing at evening,
By the Lord of the girls dancing in the evening
or else by the idols, as they move about at Ghabghab.
Or else straps passing over rough coarse cloth
فَوَيلٌthen woe بِهاbecause of her لِمَنto whoever تَكونُshe is ضَجيعَةًa bedfellow

Then woe, because of her, to whoever has her as a bedfellow,
Woe betide her for whom she will be a bedfellow
when the Pleiades set every star trembling,
When the Pleiades shook and every star quivered

خَضولٌ كَظَهرِ البُرجُدِ المُتَصَبِّبِ
when the dew's fine drizzle intensifies and it falls,
When the onslaught of dew is intense, it falls
sodden, like the back of a dripping coarse cloak.
Languid like the back of the fully clad locust

Well-formed and fair, she shows you her nature,
A white camel giving you noble traits
despite inhibition in her breast and timidity.
On a litter, shying in her breast and startled
