فَأُقسِمُso I swear لَولاwere it not for أَسهَمَarrows اِبنُson of مُحَرَّقٍMuharraq
مَعَalongside اللَهِGod ماnot أَكثَرتُI did much of عَدَّcounting الأَقارِبِthe kinsmen
So I swear, were it not for the arrows of Ibn Muharraq,
I swear if it were not for the arrows of Ibn Muharraq
Alongside God, I would not have counted so many kinsmen.
With Allah I would not have counted many of my relatives
تَرَكتُI left اِبنَthe son of عُشٍّʿUshsh يَرفَعونَthey lift بِرَأسِهِby his head

I left Ibn ʿUshsh as they lifted him by the head,
I left the son of Ush raising his head
Struggling to rise on a leg whose ankle was no longer firmly set.
Bending with a leg whose ankle is unsteady
وَأَنهاهُمُand wore them down خَلعيmy rending عَلىfor غَيرِno ميرَةٍprovisions

And my rending wore them down, though not for provisions
And I ended them without an inheritance
Of meat, until they were hidden away in unseen places.
Of meat until they disappeared into the unknown
