قد قضينا في العيد يوما سعيدا

هو يوم السرور جديد

We spent a joyful day during Eid

It is the day of new delight

وشربنا خمرا حلالا فكانت

فوق ما تفعل العيون السود

And we drank lawful wine which was

Better than what dark eyes can do

رب ثغر في العيد جاد بثغر

هو أشهى ما يمنح العنقود

A mouth that smiles during Eid gives with a smile

The sweetest gift a vine can produce

يا نديمي يباح في العيد طيف

لا نرى في خياله ما نريد

My friend, during Eid an apparition is allowed

In whose image we cannot find what we want

أيها العيد والظباء ألوف

لست أدرى واللَه ماذا أصيد

O Eid and gazelles in thousands

I do not know, by God, what I would hunt

هذه الفتنة المضيئة ليلاً

ونهاراً قلبي بها معمود

This shining temptation at night

And in daytime my heart baptized by it

إن محراب حسنها في حياتي

معبد عنده يطيب السجود

Indeed the prayer niche of its beauty in my life

Is a temple where prostration is sweet

إن ما قد لقيت من عطفها الحلو

درسه من جهلها أستفيد

What I have received from its sweet affection

Its ignorance has taught me a lesson

آه من خدها ومن مقلتيها

إن قلبي من ظلمهن شريد

Oh, its cheek and its eyelashes

My heart is lost in their injustice

جاد بالفتنة اللعوب زمان

هو بالفتنة اللعوب سعيد

Playfulness gifted temptation in the past

It is happy with temptation and playfulness
