جنَت عليّ الليالي غير ظالمةٍ

إني لأهلٌ لما ألقاه من زمني

The nights have sinned against me, though not unkindly.

I am worthy of what my days have dealt me.

فما رأيت من الأخطار عادية

إلا بنيتُ على أجوازها سكنى

I've seen no common dangers I did not try to build

My dwelling safely past their range.

ولا لمحتُ من الآمالِ بارقةً

إلا تقحّمتُ ما تجتاز من قُنَن

I've glimpsed no hopes, however faint their light,

But plunged ahead through limitations deep.

أحلتُ دنياي معنى لا قرار له

في ذمة المجد ما شرّدتُ من وسن

I've given my life meaning without rest

In service to a glory.
