1. منازل كانت جلوة العين والحشا

    فأضحت وأمست وهي في القلب أوهام

    Homes once pleasing to the eye and heart

    Have become mere fantasies in my soul

  2. لقد كان لي فيها غرامٌ فبعتُه

    وحبّي لغير الله في الحب إجرام

    I once loved them, but gave up that love

    For loving other than God is a sin

  3. سلام على دار هي الدار إنني

    أودعها والقلب باكٍ وبسّام

    Farewell, O abode, though my weeping heart

    Bids you adieu, and my eyes shed their gleam

  4. شجون كأزهار الربيع خوالف

    بها أزرقٌ أو أبيضٌ وهي آثام

    Your memories are flowers of spring

    Some blue, some white, though they are sins

  5. سأهدم عرش اللات قبل فراقها

    على اللات والعُزّى عفاءٌ وإرغام

    I will destroy the throne of Lat, ere we part

    Lat and Uzza - their rule shall be no more

  6. أحابيل صاغوها لكيد وفتنةٍ

    وكل خبير بالمكايد علّام

    The sorcerers spin their webs to divide

    But the wise see through their evil lore

  7. أأحجارُهم تبغى عليها إمارة

    وهنّ من الموت المؤبّد نوّام

    Do their idols seek rule over me?

    They slumber, locked in eternal death

  8. برئتُ من الإسلام إن لم أدكّها

    كما يفرس الظبى المخبّل ضرغام

    I renounce all Islam, if I spare them

    As the steed tramples the meadow's breadth

  9. نبا الأهل عنى أين أهلى فإنني

    لأعلم لا أهلٌ لديّ ولا آل

    If my people ask, where are my folk?

    I know - I have no clan, no kin

  10. أنا الأوحد الخالي بروحي وشرعتي

    فلا عمّ لي في ذي الديار ولا خال

    I stand alone, with my soul and faith

    No uncle here, in these lands to win

  11. سأرجع يوما والدموع سواكبٌ

    يؤججها روح من القلب مشعال

    I shall return one day, with tears that pour

    Fired by a soul holding high its flame

  12. سأعصر روحي يوم أرجع ظافراً

    وفي الروح أكوابٌ من المجد تختالُ

    When I return, triumphant and great

    My soul brimming with glory and fame

  13. ماذا يقول الزمان

    ماذا يقول الزمان

    What does time say?

    It says I shall return

  14. يقول إني أعود

    يقول إني أعود

    It says I shall return

    Return to my precious homeland and embrace it

  15. أعود للوطن الغالي وأحضنه

    إن كان لي عودةٌ للموطن الغالي

    If I can return to my precious homeland

    If I die, I die - may tyrants perish

  16. إن متّ لا مت فلتهلك أكاسرةٌ

    يروعهم في حياة الخلد إقبالي

    Dread my eternity in afterlife's advance

    One day I may return - will I come back?

  17. سأرجع يوما هل أعود لعلني

    أعود فإن اللَه للخير فعال

    Perhaps I shall, for God makes all things right

    God granted life to the brave Hashim

  18. لقد وهب اللَه الحياة لحاسمٍ

    له في حياة المجد والحب أحوال

    Whose life held glory, love and might

    When the world crosses me, I cross it too

  19. إذا طغت الدنيا فإني غريمها

    وكل غريم في الكريهة قتّال

    All crossed find the hateful a bitter foe

    When terrors call me, I have their cure

  20. إذا الهول ناداني فعندي دواؤه

    ففي الروع من قلبي خطوب وأهوال

    For my soul holds perils, horrors and woe

    My soul is armored, my will a citadel

  21. تسربلتُ روحي واعتصمتُ بعزمتي

    وروحي لأهوال المصاعب يغتال

    My soul slays the horrors of adversity

    To the white chambers, a thousand greetings

  22. على الحجرات البيض ألف تحية

    وألف وآلاف فقد حفظت عهدي

    Where the sands were kinder than petals to me

    They bid me farewell, where I knew the sands

  23. تودعني فيها رمال عرفتها

    أرقّ على جنبيّ من ورق الورد

    Gentler to my side than leaves of roses

    Speak, O riders, that I go

  24. تحدّث ركبان بأني ذاهب

    إلى يثربٍ إني إلى اللَه ذاهب

    To Yathrib - nay, to God I close

    We have lands where, though far,

  25. بلاد لنا فيها على غربة النوى

    أكارم في عهد الوفاء حبائب

    Noble hearts keep faith's troth

    My soul whispers to them over the miles

  26. تناجيهمو روحي على بعد دارهم

    وكل كريم للكريم مناسب

    For the noble's heart answers his brother's

    I had power to stay in Mecca

  27. لقد كنت أسطيع البقاء بمكةٍ

    على خير ما أهواه من كرم العيش

    And live a life of ease and grace

    Had I willed, her throne was mine

  28. وكان إلى أمري إذا شئت عرشها

    فمكة هذا اليوم قصر بلا عرش

    Yet Mecca today is a throneless place

    Minds and dreams were mine to steer

  29. عقولٌ وأحلامٌ إذا شئت سستها

    وإن بلغت حدّ الجنون من الطيش

    Had I sought madness in wanton ways

    But revelation, decisive, I heard

  30. ولكن وحيا حاسما قد سمعته

    يقول بهجران السياسة والبطش

    To shun politics and power plays

    Mecca, a thousand greetings I cry

  31. مكةٌ ألف سلام وسلام

    مكة ألف غرام وغرام

    Mecca, a thousand loves abide

    O abode of rapture in dreamy life

  32. يا ديار الوجد في دنيا الهيام

    أنت بالكفر حلال وحرام

    You allow both infidel and faithful inside

    The revelation tells I shall return

  33. أخبر الوحي بأني قد أعود

    للندى المقطور من روح الوجود

    To the holy dew from the breath of God

    Bowing and prostrating to Allah

  34. وإلى اللَه ركوع وسجود

    إنني الفاطر ألحان الخلود

    I, the Creator, compose hymns lauding
