The feast has come, but its splendor we did not see
Debts clouded it, dawning upon us bitterly
I walk with boulders atop my head
Fears left me no security or tranquility
And when I compose my ode and sing
Oh nights of feasts, you were and so were we
Where are our days when for the feast, a meadow
Whose flowers we chose, sheltered us delightfully
We would wear elegant clothes and appear
An enchanting allure, whenever we marched forth
And gifts we would arrange forgetfully
With treasures of joy in our hands merrily
Then existence with debt became a fire
That consumed the beautiful and the honorable in me
The saddened debtor moans such
That he wishes the debt would sadden him exceedingly
Drops of sorrow are torment for him
Maybe he lacked wine's cheer
Oh my time, you excelled in malice, so listen
To my satire of you, in verse, melody
Oh most foolish one, exceeding all fools
And with betraying the free, unjustly laden
Slam the boulder as you wish, for I
With foundations of rocks, stand steadily
The shining crescent cannot contend
That I, by its radiance, have an illuminated mind
The nights grew young as my head grayed
We all in pursuing glory, youthfully persisted
My flowery fate in ignorance thought
I cannot see in its betrayal, a fortress for me
Time lied, then its hands repented
For I, by God's grace, am self-sufficient
