1. وَلَقَد طَعَنتُ اللَيلَ في أَعجازِهِ

    بِالكاسِ بَينَ غَطارِفٍ كَالأَنجُمِ

    I pierced the night in its back

    With the cup, amidst curtains like stars

  2. يَتَمايَلونَ عَلى النَعيمِ كَأَنَّهُم

    قُضُبٌ مِنَ الهِندِيِّ لَم تَتَثَلَّمِ

    Swaying in luxury as if they are

    Unbroken bamboo sticks from India

  3. وَلَقَد شَرِبناها بِخاتَمِ رَبِّها

    بِكراً وَلَيسَ مِثلَ الأَيَّمِ

    And we drank it with the seal of its owner

    Pure in the early morning, not like other days

  4. وَلَها سُكونٌ في الإِناءِ وَدونَهُ

    شَغَبٌ يَطَوِّحُ بِالكَمِيِّ المُعلَمِ

    It has tranquility in the vessel and beneath it

    Is turmoil tossing the seasoned boozer
