جمال كأن النفس بعض شعاعه

إذا غاب أمسى موضع النفس مظلما

His beauty is as if it were a ray from the soul

When absent, the soul's place becomes dark

أظل أناجيه فالفيه صامتاً

ولو أدركته لوعتي لتكلما

I converse with him silently

If I had comprehended him my desire would have spoken

رعى الله هذا القلب لم يؤت رحمة

لقد كنت أرجو أن أذوب ويرحما

May God shepherd this heart not given mercy

I had hoped to melt away and be shown mercy
