أقسمت لو تفتحت وردة

فيك غدا عندي شذاها يضوع

I swore if a rose bloomed

Its fragrance will be longing in you tomorrow

تطلع أقمارك في أوجها

يا ليت عندي كان ذاك الطلوع

Your moons rise in their zenith

I wish I had that rising

خذ من ضلوعي ما يشاء الهوى

أولا فخذ إن شئت معهُ الضلوع

Take whatever love wants from my ribs

First take them if you want along with the ribs

شوق جوى وجد ضنى حسرةٌ

شجوٌ حنين خفقان ولوع

Passion burned, love pined, sorrow,

Yearning, longing, throbbing and agony

فيك ربوع أهّلت بالصبا

يا ليت شعري كيف تلك الربوع

In you are meadows the morning breeze frequented

I wish I knew how those meadows were

نزعت عنك كارهاً فرقة

لكن أراد الله هذا النزوع

I was forced to part from you unwillingly

But God willed this parting
