حكت النواظر للنواظر
برح الخفاء عن الضمائر
The eyes told the eyes
The secret left the consciences
ما في الغرام سريرة
العاشقون بلا سرائر
There are no secrets in love
The lovers have no secrets
حدّث بوجدك من ترى
لا تخفه فالأمر ظاهر
Talk to the one you love
Don't hide it, for it's evident
بان الرقيب ورُفّعت
عن وجه من أهوى الستائر
The guardian is gone, the curtains
Of the one I love's face are lifted
وبدت محاسنها التي
توحي الكلام لكل شاعر
And her beauty appeared, which
Inspires speech in every poet
يا من لقيتُ بهجرها
ما لا يطيب بقلب هاجر
O you whom I met with her estrangement
Nothing pleases the heart of one who yearns like me
من كان يصبر في هوا
ك فما أنا فيه بصابر
Who can be patient in love
As I am with what I'm in?
تُيّمت في هذي الخدو
د وهمت في تلك الغدائر
I worried about those cheeks
And imagined in those braids
الله فيك وفي جما
لك وأمري هو فيك حائر
May God be with you and your beauty
And my matter is lost in you
لي منك ما لا يستفا
ض بمثله فيض الخواطر
I have from you what cannot
Be matched, outpouring of thoughts
أنا من عرفت وفاءه
إن كان ساءك غدر غادر
I know his loyalty, so if
A betrayer upset you
لم ترض عثمانيتي
لي أن أخاتل أو أخاتر
My Ottoman love for you
Will not trick or cheat
قومي همُ القوم الألى
فاقوا الأوائل والأواخر
My people are the noble folk
Beyond the first and the last
كسروا القيود وأطلقوا
أسراهم من كل آسر
They broke the shackles and freed
Their prisoners from every captor
اهتزت الدنيا بهم
واليوم تهتز المنابر
The world shook with them
And today platforms shake
بالأمس كنا معشراً
تبكي لحالتنا المعاشر
Yesterday we were a group
That wept for our condition
تقتادنا الأيدي الأثيمة
للسجون أو المقابر
The sinful hands led us
To prisons or graves
ويصول أنصار المليـ
ـك على الأكابر والأصاغر
The king's supporters raged
Against the great and the small
تمشي الأيامى واليتا
مى والمدامع في المحاجر
The orphans and the widows walked
With tears in the tear ducts
كم بالمعاقل من فتى
متوقد الأحشاء زافر
How many in the fortresses are youths
With burning entrails, snarling
لم يجن ذنباً إنما
سارت به القسم السوائر
Who did no wrong, but
Destiny led him away
لم يبق قصر عامراً
لكن قصر الظلم عامر
No palace remained inhabited
Except the palace of injustice, inhabited
بتنا ننوح على الأحبْـ
ـة في منازلها الدوائر
We lamented our loved ones
In their homes
أفروق حسنكِ ساحر
وأنا أهيم بكل ساحر
Shall I leave your magic charm
As I rave at every magician?
ما أنتِ إلا فتنة الـ
أبصار موعظة البصائر
You are but the lust of sights
And the advice of insights
أنت التي أودى غرا
مك بالأكاسر والقياصر
You who doomed the love
Of conquerors and Caesars
يدعو الخليج قلوبهم
فتسير فيه كالمعابر
The Gulf calls their hearts
So you walk in it like crossings
لله قصر شامخ
مدّ النواظر عنهُ قاصر
To God is an imposing palace
Sights fell short of it
قصر بهِ يعلوا التسا
وي رأس مأمور وآمر
A palace in which equality is high
Above the head of ruler and commanded
هو جحفل أو محفل
فيه المنازل والمناظر
It is a regiment or council
In it views and sights
ضاعت مفاتيح لهُ
واليوم تفتحهُ السماهر
Its keys were lost
And today daggers open it
جمعت مداره فيهِ عن
كل القبائل والعشائر
It gathered its scope in it
From all tribes and clans
يتشاورون بأمرهم
والله في عون المشاور
They consult about their matter
And God helps advisors
الآن لما صار ما
خلناه دهراً غير صائر
Now that what we left
For ages not happening, happened
واسترجع النائي الحمى
قول السعادة ويك بادر
And the exiled regained the protected land
Say, happiness, speak up
وسعى الكريم إلى الكريم
مؤازراً نعم المؤازر
The generous strove towards the generous
Supporting, what great support!
كادت بلاد الله تر
قص حين أقبلت البشائر
God's countries almost
Sank when the good news came
يا دهر شكرك واجب
يا دهر ما في الناس كافر
O fate, thanking you is a duty
O fate, none of the people disbelieve
لم يبق ظلم يُتقى
دارت على الظلم الدوائر
No more injustice to fear
Destiny turned against injustice
