A moon—when, out of passion for him, I reproached him,
modesty planted a scarlet anemone in his two cheeks.
And it flamed with shyness; were it not for its moisture,
shimmering within it, it would have become a blaze.
He turned away from me, lowering his gaze, and left me unable to find
a path leading toward consolation.
Let whoever wishes blame me for him; for my yearning,
through love of him, is a drunkenness from which I do not awaken.
